AFTERLIFE // Announce Debut Album ‘Breaking Point’

US metal band Afterlife have announced their debut album Breaking Point, which will be released on 11 January 2019.

On top of all the great news already, Afterlife have also just dropped their new single Throat off the upcoming album.

Resonating quite closely to the bands vocalist Tyler Levenson and his journey with mental health, it is a raw tune with many truths and makes the song to be quite open and vulnerable as a band. I felt at times that I was controlled by the anxiety, that it was dictating everything I did,” Levenson says. “Everything I did, I had some type of doubt in my mind because of it.”.

The hauntingly, in-your-face track only gives you a preview of what Levenson mentions, with the struggle of mental health issues. Firstly bursting with anger through the chorus, only to slink away in the verses, with very whisper-like, distant vocals is a listening journey in itself with many ups and downs within the track.

As the first single released from Breaking Point, Throat really capsulated some of the themes found in the anticipated EP, as it tackles topics from mental health and domestic violence to political apathy and the weight of guilt. Put together over 10 tracks, with influences from bands like Slipknot and Linkin Park mixed with modern hip-hop, Breaking Point will be their biggest release to date, as the band is now signed to Hopeless Records.

Breaking Point is available for pre-order now, which comes with a free download for Throat.
