Homegrown metalcore heroes The Amity Affliction have announced that drummer Ryan Burt will not be performing for the remainder of their This Could Be Heartbreak European/UK headline tour.
In a Facebook post on the band’s page, the group stated that Burt has recently been “battling some ongoing mental demons” and has elected not to complete the tour. As a band who often promote mental health awareness, Amity affirmed that “our priority at this point is Ryan’s health, and that will always come first.”
The group will continue the tour however, with drummer Casey McHale taking over Burt’s role. Fans had already voiced their concern after McHale replaced the band’s drummer during the previous night’s show. It remains to be seen whether Burt will return before Amity’s Australian version of the tour, which kicks off in January 2017.
We at Hysteria wish Ryan all the best and hope he makes a full recovery soon.
